JAKARTA: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has appointed General Tandyo Budi Revita as Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army (KSAD), in a senior military leadership change formalised at the State Palace on 15 October.

The appointment was made under Presidential Decree No. 106/TNI of 2026 on the dismissal and appointment of the Army chief of staff. Prabowo personally administered the oath of office during the ceremony in Jakarta, according to the Indonesian presidential administration.

Tandyo replaces General Maruli Simanjuntak, who has been appointed Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), while concurrently heading the National Agency for Border and Remote Area Management.

A graduate of Indonesia’s Military Academy in 1991, Tandyo was born in Surakarta on 21 February 1969. Before his latest appointment, he served as Deputy Commander of the TNI.

Following his swearing-in, Tandyo outlined priorities for the Army that include supporting the government’s strategic programmes, particularly the Merah Putih Village and Urban Ward Cooperatives initiative, Sekolah Rakyat public schools and national food security efforts.

He said the Army would work to accelerate implementation of the programmes, which form part of Prabowo’s broader domestic policy agenda.

The appointment comes amid wider changes to Indonesia’s senior military and government leadership. The reassignment of Maruli and Tandyo forms part of a series of personnel changes announced at the State Palace on 15 October.

The ceremony was attended by senior state officials, members of the Red and White Cabinet and other invited guests. TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto witnessed the oath-taking.

The leadership transition places Tandyo at the head of the Army as it continues to support national defence responsibilities alongside an expanding role in selected government development programmes.
