Malaysian Business Chambers Seek Stronger ASEAN Cooperation at Manila Summit
Malaysian business chambers from seven ASEAN countries met in Manila to explore closer business cooperation, stronger regional networks and joint initiatives to support cross-border trade and investment.
Malaysian business chambers across Southeast Asia are looking to strengthen regional business networks, expand cross-border cooperation and develop joint initiatives to support growth, as representatives gathered in Manila for the ASEAN Malaysian Business Chambers Summit 2026.
Oknha Tan Khee Meng, president of the Malaysian Business Chamber of Cambodia (MBCC), and vice-president JJ Ng represented the Cambodian chamber at the summit on October 17. The event was hosted by the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries Philippines at the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila.
The summit brought together representatives from Malaysian business chambers in Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines and Thailand to review regional developments, exchange business insights and explore opportunities for closer cooperation among Malaysian business communities operating across ASEAN.
Discussions focused on broadening collaboration between the chambers, strengthening business networks and developing joint initiatives to support business growth and cross-border engagement. The gathering provided a platform for participants to share perspectives on regional business conditions and identify opportunities to improve connections between companies and markets.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of a shared vision among Malaysian business chambers in promoting regional connectivity and strengthening economic ties. Greater coordination between the chambers could help businesses establish partnerships, explore new markets and navigate challenges associated with operating across different ASEAN economies.
For companies seeking to expand regionally, established business chambers can provide valuable connections with local partners, market knowledge and opportunities to engage with business communities in neighbouring countries. Cooperation between the chambers can help strengthen these networks and support more sustained commercial engagement.
MBCC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Cambodia’s business connections with Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region, with an emphasis on building meaningful partnerships and contributing to a more interconnected regional business community.
The summit reflects the role of business chambers in supporting private-sector engagement across Southeast Asia, where closer networks among Malaysian businesses can help identify investment opportunities, encourage commercial exchanges and build resilience amid changing regional economic conditions.
