Kuala Lumpur RHB Bank Berhad has integrated with Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd's (PayNet) expanding cross-border QR payment ecosystem, enabling RHB merchants to accept QR payments from participating regional banking applications and e-wallets. The initiative further strengthens Malaysia's regional payment connectivity and supports greater cross-border trade, tourism and digital commerce.

Through the integration, RHB merchants can now accept QR payments from a wide range of participating regional banking applications and e-wallets, including those from China, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand and South Korea. This provides merchants with greater access to overseas customers while supporting a more seamless payment experience.

The new capability allows merchants to serve international visitors using payment methods they already use in their home markets, supporting a smoother checkout experience while expanding opportunities to capture tourism spending.

“As Malaysia welcomes more regional and international visitors, it is increasingly important for our merchants to offer payment experiences that are familiar, convenient and secure. Through our collaboration with PayNet, RHB merchants can now accept QR payments from participating overseas banking applications and e-wallets, making it easier to serve overseas customers using payment methods they already know and trust. At the same time, our customers continue to enjoy seamless cross-border QR payments across participating regional markets. This reflects RHB's commitment to advancing Malaysia's digital economy while strengthening regional payment connectivity,” said Nurjesmi Mohd Nashir, Managing Director of Group Wholesale Banking, RHB Bank Berhad.

In addition, RHB customers can already make QR payments in Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and Thailand using the RHB Mobile Banking Application, enabling convenient and secure cashless payments without the need for multiple payment applications.

“Expanding cross-border QR acceptance is a collaborative effort across the payments ecosystem and PayNet is pleased to work with RHB to help merchants better serve international visitors through familiar payment methods. As Visit Malaysia 2026 continues to drive tourism and cross-border spending, initiatives like this strengthen regional payment connectivity while creating greater opportunities for local businesses,” said Azrul Fakhzan B. Mainor, Chief Commercial Officer at PayNet.

The initiative aligns with RHB’s broader digital transformation agenda under PROGRESS27, its corporate strategy, to deliver seamless payment experiences for customers and merchants. It also reinforces RHB’s role in advancing national and regional payment innovation frameworks, including DuitNow QR, Malaysia’s national QR standard operated by PayNet.

As regional QR connectivity continues to expand, RHB remains committed to enhancing digital payment solutions that make cross-border commerce more convenient for customers, merchants and international visitors.
