Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia pays courtesy call on the Prime Minister
Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia (BIM) paid a courtesy call on YAB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, to discuss several strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Malaysia's professional ecosystem and advancing the nation's development agenda. The BIM delegation, led by its President, Prof. ChM. Dr. Juan Joon Ching, expressed its deepest appreciation to the Prime Minister for graciously accepting the role of Patron of Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia. His acceptance reflects a shared commitment to elevating the professional community and recognising the vital role that professionals play in nation-building.
During the meeting, BIM presented its proposal to establish Malaysia Professional Day, an annual national observance dedicated to recognising the invaluable contributions of professionals across various disciplines to Malaysia's economic, social and national development. The initiative aims to promote professionalism, integrity, innovation and greater public appreciation of the professional community while inspiring future generations to pursue professional careers. The delegation also briefed the Prime Minister on the Professional Exhibition and Conference (PROFEX) 2026, which will be held on 29–30 September 2026 at the KLGCC Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, under the theme "Uniting Professions, Transforming Malaysia's Future."
Organised by Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia, PROFEX 2026 is envisioned as Malaysia's premier multidisciplinary professional platform, bringing together more than 1,000 delegates, including professionals, policymakers, government agencies, industry leaders, academia, students and the public. The event will also feature an exhibition showcasing professional institutions, government agencies, universities, TVET institutions, corporations and strategic partners. The conference will provide a platform for dialogue on key national issues, including professional integrity and ethics, artificial intelligence, professional talent development, sustainability, public-private collaboration and the future of the professions. It is expected to foster stronger collaboration among government, industry and professional bodies while positioning Malaysia as a regional hub for professional excellence and innovation.
Discussions with the Prime Minister also covered several strategic priorities, including strengthening integrity and professional ethics, empowering Malaysian professionals in the AI era, enhancing professional talent development, establishing a national professional consultation platform, and positioning Malaysia as a regional professional hub.
Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia expresses its sincere appreciation to the Prime Minister for receiving the delegation and for his continued support towards strengthening Malaysia's professional community. BIM looks forward to working closely with the Government to advance initiatives that contribute to a more competitive, ethical and future-ready Malaysia, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI.
