Prabowo Swears In New Cabinet Ministers
President Prabowo Subianto has inaugurated a number of ministers and deputy ministers, with the new appointees outlining priorities spanning human development, foreign policy, industrial growth and job creation.
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated a number of ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday, October 1, 2026. After the inauguration, a number of ministers conveyed their impressions and work priorities that they will carry out in carrying out their new mandate in government.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Sugiono expressed his gratitude for the trust President Prabowo has placed in him. He emphasized that he will immediately coordinate to further explore various agendas and tasks at the Coordinating Ministry for PMK.
"Of course, after this, I will coordinate with Mr. Pratik to further explore and discuss the matters that are currently being worked on at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture," he continued.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir highlighted the increasingly complex global dynamics. He stated that this situation presents a significant challenge for Indonesian diplomacy. Nevertheless, Indonesia maintains a consistent foreign policy foundation as a guideline for addressing various global developments.
"Of course, the current global situation is not simple. So the challenges we face are enormous. We are also grateful that Indonesia's foreign policy has remained consistent," said Arrmanatha.
Arrmanatha emphasized that Indonesia's independent and active foreign policy will remain its cornerstone. In carrying out his new mandate, he will also continue the various policies and diplomatic measures implemented by Sugiono during his time as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
"So, whoever serves as Minister of Foreign Affairs, the clear reference is our laws. Our foreign policy is also clear, free and active, as the President has often stated. So, my job here is to continue what Mr. Sugiono, who is now the Coordinating Minister, has implemented," he said.
In the industrial sector, Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji viewed the mandate he had received as quite a daunting task. He emphasized the importance of the industrial sector as a driving force for economic growth and expanding employment.
"Therefore, we must identify the problems and then fix them one by one. We must prioritize industries that absorb labor and can act as economic drivers," he said.
The ministers' statements reflect their initial focus in carrying out their new mandate, starting from continuing the human and cultural development agenda, maintaining the consistency of an independent and active foreign policy amidst global dynamics, to strengthening the role of industry as a driver of economic growth and job creation.
