Tenable expands AI security platform as enterprise AI adoption accelerates
As enterprises rapidly embrace artificial intelligence, cybersecurity company Tenable has expanded its AI exposure management platform to provide broader visibility across leading large language models, AI developer tools and enterprise deployments, helping organisations identify, govern and reduce emerging AI security risks.
KUALA LUMPUR - Cybersecurity company Tenable has expanded the artificial intelligence capabilities of its Tenable One Exposure Management Platform, broadening its visibility across major large language models, AI development tools and enterprise AI deployments as organisations race to adopt generative AI technologies.
The latest enhancements extend support to Google Gemini, joining existing coverage for Anthropic Claude, OpenAI ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot. The platform also now provides discovery and monitoring across major Model Context Protocol (MCP) deployments, AI native integrated development environments such as Cursor, Windsurf and Trae, as well as AI enabled browser extensions.
The move comes as enterprises increasingly face challenges in managing the growing security risks associated with widespread AI adoption. As employees embrace AI tools for productivity and software development, organisations are finding it more difficult to identify where AI is being used, assess associated risks and enforce governance policies.
According to Tenable, data collected from more than 7,000 organisations identified approximately 457 million AI related security issues over a 30 day period, averaging around 62,000 AI exposures per organisation. The findings highlight the scale of what the company describes as an emerging AI exposure gap, where security teams struggle to maintain visibility across interconnected applications, infrastructure, identities and data.
The company said traditional cybersecurity tools often fail to provide a complete picture of AI related risks, leaving organisations vulnerable to increasingly sophisticated attack paths.
The upgraded Tenable One platform continuously discovers authorised and unauthorised AI deployments across endpoints, cloud environments and enterprise AI applications. It also inventories AI assets through the company's Exposure Graph, a data platform designed to aggregate security information and identify cyber risks before they can be exploited.
Among the new capabilities is expanded governance for Google Gemini, allowing organisations to monitor user interactions, analyse prompt responses, enforce usage policies and detect potentially malicious or inappropriate activity.
The platform also introduces broader discovery of sanctioned and shadow AI tools, giving security teams greater visibility into AI applications that may have been deployed without formal approval.
To help organisations respond more quickly to identified risks, the platform now integrates remediation workflows with enterprise platforms including Jira and ServiceNow, while automated notifications can be sent through email, Slack and Microsoft Teams when policy violations are detected.
Eric Doerr, Chief Product Officer at Tenable, said the rapid growth of both authorised and unauthorised AI deployments is creating new challenges for security teams. "The massive volume of AI exposures confirms the operational reality that authorised and unauthorised AI is deployed faster than security teams can govern it," he said.
He added that expanding support for Google Gemini, MCP deployments and AI native development environments enables organisations to gain unified visibility and governance across the major AI platforms now being used across the enterprise.
Tenable said its strategy combines two complementary AI capabilities. Tenable AI Exposure focuses on helping organisations discover, assess and secure their use of AI, while Tenable Hexa AI acts as an agentic engine that automates security operations and accelerates remediation efforts.
The company said the combined approach is intended to strengthen proactive cyber defence by reducing AI related risks while helping security teams respond more efficiently to emerging threats.
