HPL expands Maldives presence as Holiday Inn Kandooma becomes Kandooma Maldives
Singapore-listed Hotel Properties Limited is expanding its Maldives hospitality footprint with the relaunch of Holiday Inn Kandooma as Kandooma Maldives, backed by a new all-inclusive concept and upgrades to its 146 villas and facilities.
SINGAPORE: HPL Hotels & Resorts has taken over management of Holiday Inn Kandooma Resort Maldives, marking a further expansion of Singapore-listed Hotel Properties Limited’s presence in one of Asia’s leading island tourism destinations.
Effective October 1, the South Malé Atoll property has been rebranded as Kandooma Maldives, with the resort introducing a new all-inclusive experience centred on ocean activities, wellness, dining, local discovery and social experiences.
The resort is located on a private tropical island about 40 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport in Malé.
Under the new all-inclusive plan, guests receive breakfast, lunch and dinner, selected beverages and snacks, together with a range of complimentary experiences.
These include a sunset cruise, sunrise fishing, a 30-minute spa treatment, guided reef snorkelling and guided diving.
The resort is positioning the relaunch around five “Kandooma Signatures” covering ocean activities, wellness, dining, destination discovery and social experiences.
The ocean-focused offering includes surfing, diving, snorkelling and sunset cruises, while the wellness programme incorporates yoga, breathwork, recovery sessions and spa treatments.
The resort will also offer island-inspired dining, local visits and cultural encounters, as well as social activities including music, group games and campfire evenings.
The management transition is accompanied by upgrades to all 146 villas and facilities, with work targeted for completion in the coming weeks.
New accommodation and facilities include eight Family Beach Villas with private splash pools, splash pools for four two-bedroom Beach Houses and a second three-bedroom villa. Both three-bedroom villas will feature private pools.
The resort is also adding a new Beach Club designed as an all-day social hub for guests of different ages, including teenagers, while Kandooma Café will introduce 24-hour dining.
HPL said operations would continue as usual during the transition while the enhancement programme is completed.
The move strengthens HPL’s position in the Maldives, where its portfolio includes properties operating under brands such as Four Seasons, Six Senses, InterContinental and Gili Lankanfushi.
Kandooma Maldives becomes the group’s eighth property in the Maldives and the 13th hotel managed by HPL Hotels & Resorts across Asia Pacific and the Indian Ocean.
HPL Hotels & Resorts is the hospitality management arm of Hotel Properties Limited, a Singapore main-board listed company. Its regional portfolio also includes properties in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Maldives.
The relaunch reflects the continuing evolution of the Maldives’ resort market, where operators are increasingly combining accommodation with curated experiences, wellness, family offerings and marine-based activities as part of the overall destination proposition.
