Shopee Malaysia and KUSKOP Partner to Support Local Retailers in Reaching Online Customers
KUALA LUMPUR, 3 November 2026 – Shopee Malaysia has partnered with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP) to help local retailers and cooperatives within the KUSKOP’s network reach online customers through Shopee Instant Mart. The partnership was announced on Sunday at the Hari Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil (HPPK) 2026 event held at Stadium Kajang.
Hari Penjaja dan Peniaga Kecil was officiated by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, alongside YB Tuan Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development. Representatives from other government ministries also attended, including Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek, Minister of Education; YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Selangor Menteri Besar; and Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah Abdullah, President of ANGKASA.
Through Instant Mart, participating retailers can offer ready-stock products such as groceries and medical supplies from their physical stores to online customers. Retailers prepare orders, and delivery partners collect and deliver eligible orders within one to four hours, subject to outlet availability and service coverage. This provides retailers an additional sales channel with which they can expand their business using existing item stocks. At the same time, consumers enjoy more convenient and quicker access to everyday essentials.
The joint initiative combines both organizations' capabilities to strengthen the local retail ecosystem. KUSKOP leads ground-level merchant engagement by identifying eligible small businesses and cooperatives, facilitating onboarding, and offering guidance. Shopee leverages its digital ecosystem and rider network to enable these retailers to reach a much wider consumer base.
“Digitalisation should help local retailers and cooperatives build on the strengths of their physical stores. Through this partnership with Shopee, we aim to help businesses within KUSKOP’s network reach online customers using products already available in their stores. This gives them another way to serve their communities and remain competitive as shopping habits evolve, said YB Tuan Steven Sim Chee Keong, Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development.
As demand for convenient, faster delivery continues to grow, Shopee’s partnership with KUSKOP enhances support for retailers while giving Malaysians faster, broader access to everyday essentials.
Opal Wu, Director of Revenue & New Business of Shopee Malaysia, shared, “As more customers turn to online shopping for its convenience, local businesses must be able to adapt, to continue being a part of their shopping routines. Building on the existing customer relationships and understanding of their buyers, our collaboration with KUSKOP allows us to support these local retailers in adapting to shifts in customer preferences.”
Launched earlier this year, Shopee Instant Mart remains available for physical stores and retail outlets that meet basic program requirements, such as meeting the stated product weight and dimension criteria.
